Rope brake

When mass and speed collide, enormous physical forces are generated that must be deflected. In order to perform a crash test safely for all participants in the test facility, safe braking of the test object is required.

ERNST has developed two braking systems for this purpose, which are used accordingly depending on the test.

Short rope brake

Long rope brake

The braking system is used with any moving test equipment – whether a mobile barrier or a test vehicle.

The long rope allows any test object to be safely braked both during the start-up phase and after the crash phase.

This uses a 12 mm robust steel cable, which is installed in a cable drum.

The retraction after a braking process is performed with a foot switch and electromagnetic coupling.
